Cueva de Tito Bustillo submitted by hailstones on 5th May 2006. The Cave of Tito Bustillo is located in Ribadesella, a seaside village in the Asturias, Northern Spain. A limestone cave with paleolithic cave art of horses, bison, reindeer that were painted during the last Ice Age 25,000 o 30,000 BC. These animals are found in the Galleria de los Caballos although there are apparently 50-60 more that have been found recently. Log Text: Beautiful, simple cave art dated 20-25 k years ago. Looks like same artist based on the skilled style. Various animals - simple outlines. Guide showed how they look like they move in a flickering light’ a paleolithic cinema. Pre booking essential and quite a walk uphill from carpark.Allow time for that.

Log Text: A dolmen ( Neolithic c 4000 bc) situated in the basement of a small chapel consecrated in 700 AD. Now truth be known didnt get inside as it had shut just before we got there, but the dolmen is visible from inside the church ( see image) and has some zig zag carvings.

The site has now been confirmed to be neolithic in age, I myself always believed that to be true because of other sites like it and of the same age in Brittany, Also the stones at the site are big uns, and it's in the neolithic that they most moved big stones, In general (In the UK) as you move though prehistory towards the later bronze age the stones they moved got smaller, here the stones are large (Just like at the very nearby neolithic Stripple Stones Henge), Therefore an educated guess woul...
