St Cuby's Well (Duloe)

St Cuby's Well (Duloe) submitted by AngieLake on 1st Oct 2008. Another view of the old font that once held the waters of St. Cuby's Well. "The stone bowl from the well originally had dolphins carved round the top but they were damaged when the bowl was stolen. On the sides are a snake facing a gryffin, which are not Christian images." (Quote from leaflet in St. Cuby's church.)

The Hurlers Pipers submitted by AngieLake on 10th Dec 2008. Following my comment on mattimpey's 'orb' [lens-flare] photo at the Pipers, posted up today: Jackie, in red, stands almost due south, between the two small stones which were found by their involvement in the possible ritual movement dowsed from the Pipers last September.

Mayon Farm Cross

Mayon Farm Cross submitted by AngieLake on 3rd Sep 2009. This is the stile which allows access to the field where the cross lies on the other side of the low bank, centre left. Sennen church tower is visible in the distance, between the stile uprights. On this evening in May I had followed the footpath around the edge of the field to this stile, and once in the planted field, stepped very carefully between the crop to the low hedge where the cross is situated. You can see where others have done this and worn a slight track, just above the step of ...

Sennen Hedge submitted by AngieLake on 3rd Sep 2009. Sennen Hedge at around 9 pm in May. I took a coastal footpath, but got a bit lost, finding this, then having to negotiate a very, very muddy farm track in my best trousers and shoes!

Sennen Church

Sennen Church submitted by AngieLake on 3rd Sep 2009. The large cross near the road in Sennen Churchyard was "moved from the centre of the new cemetery. It earlier served as a footbridge across a small stream north-east of Trevear for some years during the early 19th century, on the route of a very ancient pack-horse road via Chapel Carn Brea and Chapel Euny towards Penzance, but once doubtless stood by the side of the track." Wendron South

Wendron South submitted by TimPrevett on 1st Nov 2002. Wendron / Nine Maidens Stone Circles SW683365 Parking in layby on the west side of the road opposite the footpath. The path was heavily rutted by cattle, indicating that if it was wet, this would be extremely boggy. Access is over a low point in the wall right next to the stones. Next time I visit I must read the guide books beforehand - two of the stones are actually set in the wall! One still in its original place, the other moved. The field was high with dock when I visited, and had to ...
