Zennor Quoit

Zennor Quoit submitted by AngieLake on 18th Oct 2006. One more shot that is slightly different. The Quoit is so enthralling artistically, that even a slight move reveals another great design. You can see how prolific the bracken was, but I was also delighted to see lots of wild cornflowers growing around its base.

Trencrom

Trencrom submitted by AngieLake on 18th Oct 2006. Looking approximately NNW across the plateau of Trencrom Hill towards what could be the Gorsedd rocks of this ancient settlement. It is neatly framed in the dip of the distant hills, and could have marked the Midwinter Solstice sunset. (The pits of the hut circles in Jim Champion's photo lie across the centre of this view.)

Churchyard Cross St Levan

Churchyard Cross St Levan submitted by AngieLake on 12th Nov 2006. Looking down onto the entrance of St Levan's churchyard from the ancient church path. The back of the little round cross is just visible in the top left corner of this photo. You can see the rare coffin rest in the centre of the entrance, and one of the granite 'settles' (there's also one on the opposite side). I expect the bearers, who'd often walked several miles, were glad to sit here and get their breath back before carrying their late friend into church! You can also see the granite 'ca...

Penventinnie Round submitted by AngieLake on 31st Aug 2007. Can anyone help to locate the hillfort in this photo taken by my son whilst enjoying his 40th birthday treat in July? His photos were in order of the long flight in a small plane down the coast from Perranporth air strip to Lands End and back via Truro, which was the pic prior to this one.

Goonhilly tumuli

Goonhilly tumuli submitted by AngieLake on 26th Oct 2007. This is another burial mound near Dry Tree menhir. Indeed, when I was searching for the stone with my dowsing rods, on 22nd May 07, I was led here, so am wondering if the stone (which was re-erected) might possibly have stood on this mound originally? (The bracken was very vigorous then, and it was difficult to access, but two large stones stand either side of the mound, one slightly obscured in the vegetation!) Please see plan submitted for this site's position, to the east of Dry Tree me...
