Trearddur Dolmen

Trearddur Dolmen submitted by AngieLake on 30th Oct 2009. The Trearddur standing stone looked very dominant from this angle, while walking back down the lane from Trefignath. Maybe it was meant to be viewed like this, on some kind of processional route from Trefignath, going south? [It's interesting what you notice when not at the wheel of a car!]

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead)

Ty Mawr (Nr Holyhead) submitted by AngieLake on 30th Oct 2009. This shot was taken near Trefignath, while walking back down the lane. In the distance I spied Ty Mawr, and zoomed in to try to capture the poor isolated menhir, surrounded by its 'triffid-like' lamp-posts. [See centre of photo, above new tree planting.]

Llanbadarn Fawr Celtic Crosses

Llanbadarn Fawr Celtic Crosses submitted by AngieLake on 9th Nov 2008. The shorter cross, left and the lower section of the tallest cross, showing the figure carved on this face. Both were thought to be pre-Christian standing stones. The large cross is made from granite, possibly from the Llyn Peninsula. Llanbadarn Fawr church was once the mother church of what was then the largest parish in Wales.

Druids Circle (Penmaenmawr) submitted by AngieLake on 7th Oct 2005. The view north east across Conway Bay towards Llandudno. The Druids Circle is one of the most beautifully-situated circles I've visited, and well-worth the walk. Is it possible to 'fall in love' with a circle? Well I did with this one!

Monument 280 submitted by AngieLake on 10th Oct 2005. View of Monument 280 with Druids Circle in the background. The closeness of the kerb-like stones left of centre gave it the appearance of a ruined cairn.

Moel Ty Uchaf

Moel Ty Uchaf submitted by AngieLake on 17th Jul 2006. This is the side nearest the ridge upon which Moel ty Uchaf stands, of the pile of stones I was led to whilst dowsing a ritual movement route at the site. At first glance it appeared to resemble a collapsed cairn or tomb. I came from Moel ty Uchaf's circle, down over the slope in a roughly southerly direction, at an angle towards my left slightly but aiming straight towards it (not having seen it before hand). On the way, there were three separate single anticlockwise movements, at equal dista...

Beuno's Well (Clynnog Fawr)

Beuno's Well (Clynnog Fawr) submitted by AngieLake on 11th Jul 2006. St Beuno's Well, or Fynnon Beuno, at Clynnog Fawr. This was once very popular with pilgrims and looked very inviting from the road. (Beware when visiting, as this road is lethal - the traffic whizzes past about an inch from your nose; and, fool that I am, I was there at leaving work time! There are no pavements and it's quite narrow, with no verge. I walked along it trying to catch a glimpse of the dolmen, as well as the well!)

Bachwen submitted by AngieLake on 24th Jul 2006. I vowed to visit this site after seeing one of Hamish's earlier pics. I took loads of photos in cloudy conditions, then, just before I was due to leave (about 6.30pm) the sun came out! Cue: a repeat performance and an expensive visit for me, using my non-digital cameras. This picturesque site is now one of my all-time favourite places, and I was very fortunate to have it all to myself for 2 hrs.

Dyffryn Ardudwy submitted by AngieLake on 24th Jun 2007. Just in case anyone makes the mistake I did when visiting Dyffryn Ardudwy in 03 (asked in shop and directed to another at top of hill!) THIS is the gate near the school which is used to access the narrow lane to the site. I parked in a cul-de-sac just to the west of here.
