Old Radnor Church
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: Wales (Powys)
Visited: Yes on 5th Jul 2008

Old Radnor Church submitted by AngieLake on 5th Jul 2008. Tim - this is for you! The old font in Old Radnor church that is believed to come from a megalithic stone - "probably the largest and oldest font in Britain" (quote from an old 'Red Guide' to Wales).
On the day I visited (6th June 08), volunteers were cutting the grass in the churchyard, so maybe that was why the door to the church was open?

Site Type: Hillfort
Country: England (Wiltshire)
Visited: Yes on 25th Jul 2007

Oldbury Castle submitted by AngieLake on 25th Jul 2007. Not a perfect compilation, but gives an idea of the beautiful contours of the hill below Oldbury Castle at Cherhill. You can see the horse, the monument and the Iron Age hillfort.
[The rape is 'late' compared to crops here in Devon, which had gone by early June.]
This was taken early evening 7th July 07 [7pm?/7/7/07!] by the A4, en route to Avebury. I had wanted to climb up there one day, but didn't get around to it.
(Sorry about the quality. New photos tend to be a bit sticky, too!...

Penrhos-Feilw
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Standing Stones
Country: Wales (Anglesey)
Visited: Yes on 25th Sep 2004

Penrhos-Feilw submitted by AngieLake on 25th Sep 2004. The two tall stones and their shadows viewed from another angle, showing the proximity of the farm house beside the lane, close to which I'd parked in a small layby. This was taken one gloriously sunny evening in May 2002. The views over Trearddur Bay are stunning, and I would guess that the distant hills must be on the Lleyn Peninsula, on the south side of Caernarfon Bay. This site is actually on Holy Island, but joined to Anglesey (Ynys Mon) by several roads.
(The horses were both there on ...

Penventinnie Round submitted by AngieLake on 31st Aug 2007. Can anyone help to locate the hillfort in this photo taken by my son whilst enjoying his 40th birthday treat in July?
His photos were in order of the long flight in a small plane down the coast from Perranporth air strip to Lands End and back via Truro, which was the pic prior to this one.

Robin Hood's Stride
Date Added: 26th Sep 2010
Site Type: Rock Outcrop
Country: England (Derbyshire)
Visited: Yes on 22nd May 2005

Robin Hood's Stride submitted by AngieLake on 22nd May 2005. This stone caught my eye as I was climbing the east side of the hill towards Robin Hood's stride. (Following the footpath uphill, after parking in a slight layby beside the north/south road (Alport to Elton?) between Stanton Moor and Robin Hood's Stride.) The stone is well to the left of the path, over halfway up the hill. It looks as if it may have been used as a gatepost at some time.
