Penhale Point Cliff Castle
Penhale Point Cliff Castle submitted by Bladup : Penhale Point Cliff Castle viewed from Ligger point and it's barrows. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The earthwork remains of a late Iron Age cliff castle, comprising a bivallate earthwork across the neck of a promontory. Just inside the bank and [broken] ditch is a 15m hut/cairn circle.

The broken nature of the remaining ditch at the site suggests a causewayed enclosure as much as an Iron age fort. In the 1983 excavations Neolithic flints were found which adds a bit of weight to the Early Neolithic causewayed enclosure idea, later used in the iron age as a cliff castle/fort.
