Victor Reijs writes: "Maes Howe Chambered Tomb and Ward Hill play a very interesting game with the sun around 20 days plus or minus winter solstice. Ward Hill is situated on the isle of Hoy some 15 km to the southwest of Maes Howe. Around December 1st and January 10th the sun first sets behind the top of Ward Hill and after 7 minutes it reappears for around a minute from behind Ward Hill's steep sloop (Glen of Greor)."
