Description
This interesting early plan was copied from a Transactions of the Devon Association report of 1897, and reprinted in the 1926/7 publication of 'Druids or a Study in Celtic Prehistory', by T. D. Kendrick, which is currently being offered as a download on Meg P. It must be Hut 1, with the 'annexe'. The subject was temples of the Druids, and this is a short excerpt concerning circles not built as temples: "... As an example of a circle incorporated in the structure of a dwelling-place, I reproduce a plan (Fig. 49) of one of the Foales Arrishes huts ¹ on Blackslade Common in Devonshire; the ring forming the wall of this hut is 30 feet in diameter, so that it is big enough to make it quite likely that other circles of respectable size may also have been features of domestic architecture. ...
