Description
Taken on 27 Feb 2009, this picture shows that a large circle has been cleared around this magnificently proportioned stone.
The stone can be seen very easily from the crags we passed on our way from Ffyst Samson. It is a very pleasing and welcoming place, one to tarry a while in!
The lane to the site must have been in use for centuries - don't be surprised if you come out in a different era altogether....

Looks rather different to when I photographed it a few years ago....

Hi paulcall - yes, that's what struck us about the site. It seems to have been cleared and drained very effectively...hopefully for good motives! The vegetation around the field edges still meant we couldn't make out the other features we had hoped to find which were listed on the RCAHMW map & site.
