Site in Chile

Close-up of exposed shell midden material in its natural state. The state of preservation of this midden is remarkable, having originated approximately 10,000 years ago with habitation continuing well into the 19th century AD. Note the light coloration of shell material contrasted with the unnaturally dark soil which has been infused with charcoal from prehistoric hearth fires.

Title of this site should be "Bahia Wulaia Dome Middens". Same error made on images with prior one and following six consecutive PID numbers. Thus this group of seven images should be moved to the associated article entitled "Bahia Wulaia Dome Middens", which should now have a total of about 10 images.

This certainly does appear to be the purple of shell middens ... typical of the Phoenicians, actually.
