Description
Although this site is interpreted in the descriptions here as a cairn with a central cist (or even double cist) many archaeologists think it more likely that this a damaged Scillonian entrance grave. If viewed in this way the “cist” would be the back of the chamber, the large slab lying towards the east of the cairn a displaced roofstone, and the cairn horseshoe or oval shaped. We know that this site was excavated at least twice by antiquarians and it is plausible that this led to the passage being infilled.
