Up close to the temple you can see where repairs have been carried out, various different times, in some places such as the foreground you can see where a different slightly different colour mortar has been used to fill in cracks and areas of damage, some of the carved hieroglyphics with missing parts have been completed in the mortar. further away part of a leg h

Abu Simbel Temple of Ramses II

Up close to the temple you can see where repairs have been carried out, various different times, in some places such as the foreground you can see where a different slightly different colour mortar has been used to fill in cracks and areas of damage, some of the carved hieroglyphics with missing parts have been completed in the mortar. further away part of a leg has been infilled with stone blocks. Beneath the arm there is a wall of blocks that support it.

Something I like about this temple (and some other sites too) is that the more you look the more detail you see.
