Carving referenced 'Coarse Stone Edge 01' on ERA and 222 in 'Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding'.

To look at the motif properly, your drawn into the position of the photograph. Was that the intention of the carver(s)? Would vegetation / tree coverage around the stone have prevented this view at the time of carving?

Image captured July 2009.

Been to see this today. It's lovely, and the view is stunning.

Just wondering if this aligns with any setting or rising of significant sunrise/set, moonrise/set, or stars, etc... As it seems to be pointing to a double dip in the horizon, both the distant, and slightly nearer, dips in hills? It's very symmetrical from this angle.
