Description
This composite picture shows 'Mercian' crosses in the Staffordshire Moorlands and in eastern Cheshire at Cleulow, Leek, Macclesfield (West Park), Upton (Macclesfield), Swythamley. These are stylistically similar to crosses at Llangollen (Eliseg's Pillar, at Chebsey and along the Trent valley as far as Stapleford. The Beckermet cross is stylistically very similar but geographically quite out of context.

Nice collage; didn't know there was one in Stapleford - used to live very nearby - but I wouldn't have been interested then in all likelihood.

Now, perhaps all Portalers can help me. Do any of you know of other crosses / shafts, call em what you will, with the same style? Cylindrical lower part seperated by a square or rectangulat tapered top with a collar and 'swags'. It would be great to understand their geographical location. Thanks

If you look through my Cross / Well / Christian site ID of Just3Days you might find something new - but I reckon you likely have my coverage in the above.
