Description
Chimney Rock in the San Juan National Forest in Southwest Colorado was designated a national monument on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. Chimney Rock was home to the Ancestral Pueblo People about 1,000 years ago and is culturally significant for Native American tribes. The site is deeply spiritual to the Pueblo people and other tribes. Ancestors used the rock to see "lunar standstills".
