I live in Stevenage and the SIX HILLS are a lovely looking monument too English history. Especialy in a modern up to date New town.

Dear Bob, I have a postcard view of Six Hills taken about 100 years ago. It shows a row of cottages in which my great grandfather died in 1908. His address was "Woodbine", Six Hills, Stevenage. Do you know if this cottage is still there? Yours hopefully, Bridget

Hi Bridget,
That area of Steveage has been developed and so probably the cottage has gone. But I have found it on the Old Map web site and with a postcode of SG1 1XW. Go to the top right of this page and click on the yellow name Six Hills. Then look at the row of icons beneath the site description. Click on the central grey icon of a map and then go to Old Map's search box and enter SG1 1XW. To see a modern map, go back to our site entry and click on the light green circle icon. That will show you the location of the Six Hills on Street Map. Enter the post code on Street Map and you will see where Woodbine is (or was). Try it - its easier than it sounds. We would love to see your postcard. To send it you need to scan it on to your computer, register with us and then click on the guidelines for sending photos. Good luck and thanks.

Hi Bridget - I can see it's a long time since you posted your query about Woodbine cottage by the Six Hills. I probably have the same postcard of the Six Hills and cottages sent in 1906 and it was from someone "AB" or "AM" living at Woodbine. Could this have been your great grandfather I wonder? if you're still looking, do make contact. Rgds, Vanessa
