Description
Long Barrow, 92 m long NE-SW, 10 m wide.
It was build side by side with the even longer 115 m 'Vedsted Langdysse 1'.
Earth mound from 1.50 to 2.00 m high, somewhat disturbed by excavations.
10 m from barrows SW-end a hole straight to the hill bottom, about 7-8 m wide.
Herein seen a bursted stone, most likely one of a chambers orthostats.
22 m from SW-end a similar hole with opening towards N.
34 m from NE-end a third hole.
Only a small number of kerb stones survived, most of them hidden
and covered with earth.
Part of the impressive Vedsted 'Femhøje' complex.
('Femhøje' = Five Hills / Barrows)
A Round Barrow with almost complete kerb stones, three Long Barrows;
one of these with a lot of still visible kerb stones and an astounding length of
115 meters, a beautiful and well preserved passage grave, plus one of those
danish 'Jættestue' that you can explore from inside the chamber.
In front some kerb stones from Langdysse 1, back in center Langdysse 2.
