Description
A mighty Long Barrow, 115 m long of NE-SW direction, 8-12 m wide.
Earth mound from 1.50 to 2.00 m high.
15 m from NE-end a hole of 6 m diameter.
9 m from this a similar hole, equal to the mound bottom; herein seen
two large, significant land covered stones from a destroyed chamber.
14 m, 20 m and 32 m from barrows SW-End seen similar holes of robbed
chambers. (Distances are measured to the centers of the holes).
In the middle are two stones blasted, in the southernmost two other blew stone.
In SW-extremity seen one, land covered kerb stone; in SE side 46 kerb stones,
hence six toppled and partially covered. There are big gaps in the stone row.
For NE-extremity seen one stone; in NW-Since 32 stones, with large spaces.
Part of the impressive Vedsted 'Femhøje' complex.
('Femhøje' = Five Hills / Barrows)
A Round Barrow with almost complete kerb stones, three Long Barrows;
one of these with a lot of still visible kerb stones and an astounding length of
115 meters, a beautiful and well preserved passage grave, plus one of those
danish 'Jættestue' that you explore from inside the chamber.
