I was lucky enough to visit Austria on a hiking trip in September 2008 when it was the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Venus von Willendorf and she was on display in person in the Naturhistorisches Museum, Vienna. Normally just a casting is on view but at this time the actual carving was displayed, albeit in very subdued light and controlled conditions.
