Alligator Mound. What you cannot tell from satellite views and most photos of the site is that there would have been a clear view of the effigy from higher ground immediately to the west of the mound. In this photo you can just make out the irregular lines of the mound through the recently planted trees in the upscale neighborhood that surrounds the mound. Photo - bat400, 3 Nov 2007.
