I visited this site many years ago, Those stones weren't stood up back then, I really didn't know what to make of the site and back then (In the old paid for film days) I sadly didn't even take a photo, What do you reckon? I felt it was more of a possible settlement site or some form of enclosure, Not a Stone Circle in any real sense beyond it been almost a circle (It's oval) and has stones, but if you put them back up they'd be touching and wall like

I'd say that out of the 3 now standing 2 have been re-erected during this century because in Wainwright's 1950's Far Eastern Fells guide book he draws a little sketch of a stone standing and writes by it 'The only stone now standing'. On the west side there are hardly any stones at all.
I did a video clip walking northwards starting on the east side, here's the youtube link- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB9yQ_JN1l8

I haven't been since the 30th of 0ctober, 2006, and there wasn't any stones up then (i'd have found it straight away if there was, ha ha), So the one standing in wainwright's sketch must have gone down and put back up again between his visit and now (if one of the stones standing now was his stone), There's a good few photo's of the circle without any stones up here - https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2203/swarth_fell.html
