Description
I just had to include this photograph of the ornate, 15th century font, which we were told was 'attacked' with a hammer by a previous vicar who took exception to the images on it, hence a large crack round the top bowl! However, it is still in use today. The church leaflet tells us: "It is carved in local limestone and the bowl depicts a resurrection scene, emblems of the four Evangelists and figures of various saints.
Below are angel figures carrying shields. On the stem are figures of eight lesser saints with their symbols, under ogee arches.
The base is decorated with eight male heads, four of which are tonsured, alternating with quatrefoils.".
