aye, it sure is a beauty; combined with the amazing blue sky and the distant mountain silhouette, it 'does things' for me.

Lovely scenery ... I do envy you your odyssey through France! Were there other stones nearby? Do you think this one could have been an equinox sunset marker, aligning with the sun as it traced the steep right slope of that mountain while setting, finally disappearing in that dip above the house roof?

Yes Angie, there are many more menhirs in this area, quite a nice little complex here in fact, and with the remains of at least one burial chamber also. I'll try and get the details sorted and pictures posted soon.
