Description
Settlement at Capo Graciano on Panarea Island in Italy.
This is part of the Aeolian islands just north of Sicilly. The volcanic islands enjoyed great importance until the iron age as it was a source of the extremely useful obsedian which occurs naturaly from the volcanic output. It was vital until iron and steel could be made sharp enough for precision cutting.
The settlement and it's round beehive dwellings dates back to 1300 BCE.
You might recall that Odyseus spent some time on the Aeolian Islands before making it back to his beloved Ithaca!
