Kalmthoutse Heide/De Zoom is a surprising and otherworldly 60 sq km of marsh, mere and sandy forest straddling Belgium and Holland. This part of the Low Countries was the home of the Menapii tribe, of whom Caesar said:

Description
Kalmthoutse Heide/De Zoom is a surprising and otherworldly 60 sq km of marsh, mere and sandy forest straddling Belgium and Holland. This part of the Low Countries was the home of the Menapii tribe, of whom Caesar said: "Close to the Eburones, and protected by a continuous line of marshes and forests, dwelt the Menapii, the only Gallic people who never sent envoys to Caesar to sue for peace."
