Description
Bronze Axe, about 1200 BC
An Irish-type socketed bronze axe that would have been used for woodworking and agricultural work. It would have had a wooden handle. The exact findspot is unknown.
Military Flail or Holy Water SPrinkler
Originally this spiked iron ball was attached to a chain, which would have been fixed to a wooden staff. It was used during the medieval period to smash armour. The name 'Holy Water Sprinkler' may derive from the drops of blood which started from those on whom it was used. This example was found ar Avignon in France.
