Re: Hoarstones by Stubedo on Tuesday, 05 April 2022

I went to Hoarstones on Saturday 2nd April 2022.

It was a nightmare to get to couldn't immediately get to the Hoarstones Circle, forged my own way through the wood to find a path.

The land owner had, in my opinion, made it as difficult as possible to find, no sign posts, pathways blocked by trees etc. The only reason i knew it was there is because it was on my OS Map.

When I eventually found a path to the circle the land owner had put up hand written sign on the stile saying 'Private' and 'Keep Out' reasoning that no one could lay claim to a 3000 year old site of interest, I ignored them and had a look at the circle anyway.

The land was well grazed by the cows in the field except for the stone circle. Most bizarre.

The metal gate at the other end of the field also has Private No Entry signs on it, i am not sure of the legality of that, there is a path marked on OS maps, but i am unsure if it is a public right of way.

A great shame to have a site of such interest, but no one allowed to visit it.
