Windmill Hill lies 310 deg. from Avebury which is the geometric summer solstice set direction. There is a (usually uncharted) linear earthwork leading in this direction from the base of the hill up to the Great Bell Barrow. It points straight towards the Obelisk marker within Avebury Henge.
