Thanks for your comment. Actually a lot of research has been undertaken on petroglyphs around the world, especially those in the UK which so resemble the one in the photo on this page. There are a number of good books and many academic papers on this subject, although there is a lot of guessing by amateurs too! The British ones date back well into the Neolithic era with some continuation into the Early Bronze Age whilst the New Caledonian ones are much more recent as mentioned in the text on this page. There is no evidence of any cultural, ethnic, DNA, artifact or linguistic connections between these Western European and Pacific cultures which were separated in time by several millenia so I feel that it is not irresponsible to state that they are unconnected.
