Visited today in company with a wonderful friend ,who despite being a smoker was able to make the climbs .From its position we were able to watch storms and heavy rain rushing towards us from the west. Spent time marvelling at the logistics of building the Fort without the use of modern machinery and equipment. What grafters they must have been !!!!!! People must have been born ,lived and died whilst the Fort was being built and didn't get to see it finished. I lived in Ashford for years and didn't know it even existed . A true piece of English heritage.
