Three Howes (South Moor)
Three Howes (South Moor) submitted by kelpie : The northernmost howe of seven. This is a good example of a bronze age howe and sits beside the forest drive (toll payable). (Vote or comment on this photo)
Round Barrows in North Yorkshire

Bronze age round barrow cemetery. A linear arrangement of seven barrows around 50m apart. Known as Three Howes as the northernmost three are the most prominent, the others having been reduced in size by agricultural activity.

Three Howes (South Moor)
Three Howes (South Moor) submitted by kelpie : This photo shows the remaining five howes, only three can easily be seen. The nearest howe is the third in line and is quite obvious, darker patches can be seen beyond it signifying the fourth and sixth howes. The fifth howe is barely visible between them. Howe number seven lies to the east (left) of howe three (the nearest). (Vote or comment on this photo)

Three Howes (South Moor)
Three Howes (South Moor) submitted by kelpie : This is the second of the seven howes and sits alongside the road opposite the northernmost howe. Passed by many motorists each day they are probably not noticed. SE 90317 90624 (Vote or comment on this photo)
