Rock Art in Northumberland
This rock art panel was recorded by Beckensall as having two motifs: a cup and ring with an outside cup, and a cup with a groove at the centre of two rings. In addition, there is a small Christian cross carved on the ridge of the rock with a metal tool.
NADRAP records that another stone with similar markings was found in the vicinity of these co-ordinates, although the carved cross could not be located. Only 2m away was a distinctive standings tone with fluted weathering marks. This new carving was therefore recorded as a new panel, Amerside Law 4 (ERA-771). It may in future be found that Amerside Law 2 and Amerside Law 4 may be the same panel.
