Promontory Fort in Northumberland. An impressive Iron Age fort occupies a promontory South-East of Middleton Dean. From the North, South and East it is protected by deep ravines. The rampart is preserved up to 2.5m of height. The ditch of 1.5m depth is clearly distinguishable, as well as a causewayed entrance located in the NW part of the fort.

Inside the hillfort two later phases of occupation are clearly distinguishable - Romano-British rectangular houses distributed along the rampart, as well as medieval shielings and sheep pens.
