Stone of Setter
Stone of Setter submitted by LizH : The Stone of Setter is an impressive site, very tall and imposing. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Standing Stone in Orkney. On Eday Island this stone of irregular form is the tallest single standing stone in Orkney. It is 15' high, 7' wide and up to 14" thick. Facing north-south it is much furrowed by weathering.

Additional Information submitted by Drew Parsons in September 2010: There are three recorded cairns in the vicinity of the stone according to the Canmore records. At HY56423720 there is a small denuded cairn of around 5 metres diameter with a number of large stones lying on and about it. At HY 56423720 there is a turf covered mound of stones partially ploughed out which is possibly a cairn, and at the edge of the field to the north west of the Stone of Setter there is a ruined cairn about 8.5 metres by 5 metres and 0.3 metres high. For The Stone of Setter: Canmore ID: 3180 and site Number: HY53NE6. For the Cairns: Canmore ID:3144 and Site Number HY53NE 11.
