TheCaptain visited on 20th Sep 2022 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 3 Access: 3 Nearby to the north of Moor Divock 5 is another raised mound which initially looks to be another cairn, which the sheep like to sit on. When I do get to have a closer look, there seems to be possibly a cairn, but with no further info I am not 100% convinced this is anything other than a natural lump in the ground.

Sited some 15m to the north of Moor Divock 5, this cairn is recorded as Historic England List ID 1007377, and is described as: "a round cairn located in a fairly prominent position on top of a slight rise on Askham Fell, 475m south east of White Raise round cairn. It includes a flat-topped circular mound of stones 4m in diameter and up to 0.4m high. Some larger stones around the eastern edge of the cairn form a kerb".
The cairn is also listed as monument 120 in Quartermaine's 1991 "Askham Fell Survey Catalogue", pages 24/25. Quartermaine adds this is: "a very ill-defined, flat-topped cairn on top of a slight rise. It is, however, apparently artificial as it contrasts with the surrounding terrain. There are some larger stones around the eastern edge, which may be indicative of a kerb. It's position on top of the ridge is fairly prominent and there is a possibility that it had a funerary function".
We have visited this site on a couple of occasions, and were unable to identify this particular cairn on the ground. If you have, please post some photographs to this site page - thank you.
