Llech Llia multi banked henge submitted by cerrig : Looking south, the rings showing up well in the snow. Sunrise on Feb 4th. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Double banked henge in the the Llia valley, which is very overgrown with scrubby grass and wimberry bushes, making it very tasty but a little difficult to find. It's almost invisible until you are right on top of it.

Llech Llia multi banked henge
Llech Llia multi banked henge submitted by cerrig : This stone, sited on a line between the henge and Maen Llia, is part of the Llia valley triangle layout. It is known as Rylee Jacks Rock. In the background can be seen Maen Llia standing stone, and the chap sat on the rock is none other than Rylee Jacks himself. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llech Llia multi banked henge submitted by cerrig : View from the South West. This shows the relative positions of the three monuments in the "Llia valley triangle". Maen Llia standing stone to the left (230 metres away), and barely visible is Rhyd Wen Fach ring cairn down in the valley bottom on a low hillock (320 metres away). Also, next to the camera position , can be seen where a more modern drainage ditch has cut into the outer ring. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llech Llia multi banked henge submitted by cerrig : The double banked henge, looking South down the Llia valley. As you can see it's very overgrown with scrubby grass and wimberry bushes, which makes it very tasty but a little difficult to find. It's almost invisible until you are right on top of it. This is photographed in early morning light just to get some shadow detail. (4 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Llech Llia multi banked henge
Llech Llia multi banked henge submitted by cerrig : In the report by coflein the Eastern portion of the bankings are described as being an entrance. This is also where one of the only two stones now visible is found. The other stone is right in the centre of the henge. The camera here is positioned over the centre stone, my camera bag is sat to the right of the outer stone. In the valley below, just about visible as a slightly darker green patch...

Have a look at Google earth. I was looking for the standing stone of Maen Llia and noticed the concentric rings of LLech Llia which were not marked on my edition of the OS map and stand out with the shadows when seen from above.

It's certainly a very curious place. More trudging is planned!

Coflein description of this site throws up some interesting geometry, in addition to the position of Maen Lia and the cairn forming the isosceles triangle there seem to be other cairns and monuments linked to the greater complex.
More trudging over the surrounding moorland by some determined local seems to be required!
