Geraint1 visited on 27th Mar 2024 This stone may not exist. At the coordinates given there is no stone. There is a stone approximately 40m west from the stated position but this stone does look more likely to be naturally deposited, taking into consideration an adjacent outcrop with many similar sized stones. There is another possible candidate approximately 40m south of the stated position. This stone does look as though it may possibly be a standing stone. This stone is at the path 'T' junction. There is another stone of similar size approximately 10m to its east that is covered in vegetation. There are several more smaller stones below an adjacent outcrop. It does look as though it could have become deposited naturally, although equally it could have been stood there. I'll upload a couple of pics of this stone given it does seem a more likely candidate for being this particular menhir but it may well be just another stone.

Llyn Barfog Stone
Llyn Barfog Stone submitted by Geraint1 : This stone at 6520 9864 does have a few neighbours. This one seems a little smaller and is 80%covered in vegetation. There are other smaller stones, all vegetated over, higher up the slope below an outcrop. This stone could possibly be the menhir referred to but the position recorded incorrectly. I'm undecided whether this stone looks more likely naturally deposited or sited here by human hand. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llyn Barfog Stone
Llyn Barfog Stone submitted by Geraint1 : This stone at 6520 9864 is a fairly prominent stone. It's approximately the same size as the Carn March Arthur menhir approximately 450m southeast. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llyn Barfog Stone
Llyn Barfog Stone submitted by Geraint1 : This stone is at 6520 9864 is approximately 22m South of the stated position of Llyn Barfog stone (a position where there is no stone). It sits at the 'T' junction of paths. This stone seems to be the best option for being Llyn Barfog stone. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llyn Barfog Stone
Llyn Barfog Stone submitted by Geraint1 : This stone at 6517 9868 appears to have been deposited here from this outcrop above it. The deposition appears natural. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Llyn Barfog Stone submitted by Geraint1 : No stone at 65212 98686. This stone at 6517 9868. This stone looks likely to be natural deposition from very nearby rocky outcrop.

Re: Llyn Barfog Stone by Anonymous on Sunday, 02 June 2024
I took the stone location from an old os map and added it. When I went looking for about 6 months ago I could not find it although planned to go back when the reeds were lower and it was drier.
So probably this stone has been removed or lost.
