Meini Hirion submitted by Adam Stanford : A deceptive view of Meini Hirion, with the smaller stone in front and the massive one behind. Not long before sunset and a lovely glow at the end of a beautiful day. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Two stones to the north-west of the church are believed to be the remains of a stone circle.

October 2017 Sadly this site is under serious threat from Gwynedd Council who have applied for planning permission (to the National Park) to route a new road - the unnecessary and unwanted Llanbedr bypass - through this field.

I didn't see any vicious hedgehogs!
When we visited the church at Llanbedr, the leaflet found there described the stones of Meini Hirion.
Quote:
"As you dodge the traffic to cross the road to the Post Office, Neolithic man is probably very far from your thoughts, but evidence of his life is only a few yards from you.
Just behind the petrol-filling station [NB:this has gone and is replaced by new houses I'd guess!] stand two monoliths, one being ten feet tall, probably the survivor of a group. May be it (they) marked the start of an overland route to the north-north-east, marked out by more standing-stones, near the hilly 'high' road from Llanfair to Llandecwyn, where the old way changes directions, to the north-east towards Trawsfynydd or Ffestiniog."
[Leaflet written by 'JWH 1992']

We parked in the lane leading to the church and when our visit there was over we walked back to the main road, crossed it carefully, and headed back to our right (north) til we found the footpath leading across the fields (west of road). We didn't see a Post Office, either!

Ware approaching the fencing too closely. It is fenced for a good reason. There is a rather vicious hedgehog abiding within and has been known to clip intruding appendages on occasion.

Otherwise a great spot to visit.
