Lagganmullan 9 submitted by markj99 : Mysterious deep parallel striations hidden under the turf at Lagganmullan 9. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Rock Art in Dumfries and Galloway.

Lagganmullan 9 is a largely turf covered horizontal stone panel within 1 yard of a dry stane dyke on Lagganmullan farmland. The panel measures c. 5x2 feet on a SW-NE axis when fully excavated. According to Canmore ID 133618 it consists of 2 cups enclosed by 1 'heart-shaped' ring; 3 cups enclosed by 1 ring, 2 adjoining; 5 solo cups. I observed 4 deep parallel striations c. 6 inches long and 0.5 inch deep which may be natural.

There is an intersection of dry stane dykes at NX 56435 55035. Lagganmullan 9 is c. 25 yards E from here on the N side of the wall. Lagganmullan 8 panel lies c. 5 yards further E adjacent to the wall.

Superior pictures of Lagganmullan 9, showing more of the Cup and Ring Markings are available at BRAC/Dumfries and Galloway/Lagganmullan-Anwoth .
