Sweyne's Howes North
Sweyne's Howes North submitted by gaianlife : Site in West Glamorgan Wales (Vote or comment on this photo)
Remains of a large Portal Dolmen on the slopes of Rhossili Down at the western end of the Gower peninsula.

For more information see Coflein NPRN 93013, which describes this cairn as: "This the north cairn measures 18.3m by 13.1m with an overall height of 0.6m At the western end is a capstone leaning against two supporters 1.4m apart. The slab recumbent between them is known to have stood cross-wise in this space but the full extent of the chamber and the position of the entrance cannot be discerned".

The Journal of Antiquities also features a page for both burial chambers and the cairn in between - see their entry for Sweyne’s Howes, Rhossili, Gower Peninsula, Wales, which includes a photograph, directions for finding the site, background information about Sweyne and a list of reference sources for more information.

Sweyne's Howes North
Sweyne's Howes North submitted by sem : Long ago this was thought to be the tomb of Sweyne a Viking king after whom Swansea was possibly named.Although not in the best condition the view it affords is incredible and I certainly would not object to being buried here.
