Bowda Stone Circle submitted by TheCaptain : I had never heard of a stone circle here until I saw the Pastscape entry here, so thought I’d better go and have a look. Information from Pastscape states, "Possible stone circle, may be a group of natural earthfast boulders." I had never heard of this until I saw this, so I thought I’d better go and have a look.

Certainly there are a couple of large side set slabs standing on edge here, with others fallen and laying about which could conceivably be remnants of a stone circle.

However, I am not convinced, as there is much loose and fallen granite here, some of it split and quarried, and the position on the slopes of the hill do not feel or seem right. I think it would certainly be an unusual place for a stone circle.

Notes from my visit, 23rd May 2010.
Bowda Circle, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
SX 2474 7757, Alt 266m, Access 4, Ambience 3, Condition 2

I had never heard of this until I saw a mention of it on the TMP from Pastscape which states "Possible stone circle, may be a group of natural earthfast boulders." so thought I’d better go and have a look.

It would certainly be a very unusual place for a stone circle.
