According to Canmore ID 299531 the beacon measures c. 6m high. It is seated in a square concrete platform measuring c. 32 feet long. This has been built on a dun or broch, described in Canmore ID 60437 as having a c. 60 feet diameter. Only a line of blocks, measuring up to c. 2 feet high by 3 feet wide, remain on the W Arc of the mound. There is also a single course of stones on the NW boundary of the enclosure, probably remains of ancient outworks. The W half of the enclosure is rocky and featureless except for a modern octagonal concrete base measuring c. 10 feet across in the SW corner. The entrance to the enclosure is in the E Arc, a narrow neck of land c. 6 feet wide. There is a natural hollow N of the entrance and a hollow to the S which is probably man-made. Crammag Head Promontory Fort has the natural protection of steep slopes on the N, S and W flanks. The E flank has the remains of a rampart c. 10 yards outside the fort, measuring c. 2.5 feet high and 9 feet wide. This appears to extend to the N flank which has traces of a low bank c. 1 foot high and 6 feet wide. Further out, there is a significant rampart and ditch running from the E to the S of the fort. It is c. 100 yards from the fort in the S Arc and 200 yards distant in the E Arc. The outer rampart is up to c. 4 feet high and 7 feet wide. The ditch is 0.5 feet deep and 5 feet wide.
