Double ditch and banks defend this headland from the mainland, with the well defined ditches cut into the bedrock.

Presumably, when this was made, the headland was a lot bigger, as today it is pretty small, and would not have been worth all the effort to defend it to such an extent.

It also has to be said that the gorse and brambles provided a much better defence than the ramparts!
