Dun Beag occupies a prominent isolated hill rising steeply above the graveyard at Balmeanach. There are remains of a defensive ditch to the WSW of the fort, protecting the approach along a ridge; here there remain some traces of walling. The other sides of the fort are precipitous. The remains of an entrance can be traced in the E quadrant, approached by a terrace along the north flank. Here again are traces of walling.
The remains of a hut circles have been traced in the NW interior of the dun.
