Ancient Temple in Greek Islands (Aegean etc)
At the site of the Lefkadian Rock an ancient temple of Apollo was situated. Legends told about the suicide by jumping down the cliff of the ancient poet Sappho. Later the priests of the temple of Apollo fixed some bird feathers on their arms and jump down the 60m high cliffs into death for sacrifice.
Crimials were sacrificed as well (also with bird feathers) at this site. Surviving this jump the criminals were not be considered as guilty.
Today a lighthouse is standing at this site, perhaps some crop marks of the ancient site could be found.
