The second stone (I've called it Marnoch2) is thought not to be in its original setting. One suggestion is that it was moved to become a cattle rubbing stone but as it is now adjacent to the driveway to a converted steading (and thus not in a field at all) that seems unlikely.

Aberdeenshire SMR says that it is the remains of a Stone Circle, in 1866 there were 2 stones remaining. This one is St Marnans Stone and is at the top of the church yard and may be the remaining pillar of a recumbent circle. There is another to the north and is not in its original position.
