The latest edition of Unearthing Mysteries on BBC Radio 4 features Creswell Cave Art. It describes the findings of palaeolithic rock art in the Derbyshire caves. There is also a description of the art and how it was found along with some pictures on their web site.

The programme describes how archaeologists decided to search for cave art, how they discovered it, and what exactly is depicted in the cave. There is some discussion of aspects of the site such as whether and how colour was used and the relationship of the art to other European art.
There are a number of links on the Megalithic Portal to discoveries in the Creswell Crags.

Hopefully the programme will be archived long-term along with the other excellent programmes in this series: Unearthing Mysteries – Creswell Cave Art.

lucky for creswell that the limestone cliffs have caves, but down here no caves in our granite rocks so "our" artists used local rock to express their art, bone, wood, leather. have not survived in the acidic soil, but more art being discovered every year. to see some put palaeolithic sculpture into the google search engine to one of our websites, the other put burbage heritage and tourism group, into the same search engine.hoping to get a heritage centre to put this on display, other than public displays at the moment
