Reily Cemetery Mound
Reily Cemetery Mound submitted by bat400 : There seems to be no record on an excavation of this mound. With the Reily village cemetery created around it, it has been protected, at what is believed to have been its original size and height. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Possible Burial Mound in Butler County, Ohio. This prehistoric mound is a good example of European-American settlers "adoption" of a prehistoric burial site.

Artificial Mound.

There seems to be no record on an excavation of this mound. The villagers of Reily, Ohio, placed their own cemetery around it. There it has been protected, at what is believed to have been its original size and height. This use of mound sites for European-American burials was common for the Ohio Valley region, settled in the 1820's to 1840's. The site overlooks Little Indian Creek just southwest of the village, on the road to Peoria on the Indiana-Ohio state line.
