Chambered Tomb in Lower Saxony, Bremen

9 Meter long Allee Couverte dating to about 3500 BCE. It is said the monument gave it's name to the village, Gross Steinum. This site was excavated in 1950 and relocated 200 Meters to the side of the hill in order to make room for more intensive farming in the valey. Due the jumbled state of the stones, the nearby Lübbensteine were used as inspiration for rebuilding the site. While the disruption of the site is regretable, it can be said that the best of a bad situation was made in view of the post war shortages. It is said that a further said of stones were found nearby. They were relocated to an adventure playground after private builders had removed them from their original location without any notes having been taken.
