Stone Circle in Co. Kerry. Sitting in a circular banked enclosure topped with trees, this seven stone boulder circle is around 6m across.

The entrance way is guarded by two huge standing stones around 20m to the South.

Lissyviggeen
Lissyviggeen submitted by frogcottage42 : From the South showing the huge entrance stones. At well over 2m in height and nearly as wide they dwarf the elements of the circle itself and may pre-date it. The stone to the left is carved with several designs, some resembling runes.

Finding Lissyviggeen by wysewoman on Saturday, 29 June 2019

I visited here recenty. Was told by the lovely man at the antique shop that I could just walk up the track to it. Parking outside his shop is probably your only option.

To get to the track it is the first left off the minor road you turn on to from the N22 ( opposite the antique shop) the track is about 200m on the left once you are on the minor road.

Very soon, You will see a ruined barn and house on your left and an entranceway which has an electric fence across the front of it. It's easy to crawl under that. Then go around behind the ruinous building and look to the right for the two large entrance standing stones. You've found it !

Ring-barrows - a circular argument with a ring of truth? by Christiaan Corlett

"...Ring Barrows have also been found in direct association with stone circles, for example at Reanascreena and Lissyviggeen, where the stone circles occurred within the ring-barrows. "
